Counseling Center | About Us

Mission:

The mission of the Counseling Center at SUNO is To positively impact and enhance all students’ mental health, personal development, and wellness. Most  importantly to help foster a mentally healthy holistic experience while at SUNO.

Vision:

The vision of the Counseling  Center is to:
  • Help students navigate their life experiences as a college student.
  • To Curate a free, safe, and confidential setting for students to discuss personal issues and express themselves.
  • Help nurture student’s mental health through the use of advanced interventions and evidence based practices
  • Operate in an ethical manner, appropriately implementing policies and procedures
  • Provide education and consultation regarding any topic or entity of mental health.
  • Facilitate an environment that empowers students to seek mental health care on campus.

 

*The Counseling Center is a Title III Sponsored Program which falls under the administrative leadership of the Division of Student Affairs.

 

Confidentiality: All information acquired by the Counseling Center is strictly confidential and do not become part of University records. Records may be released only upon the student's written consent. The exception to this strict confidentiality occurs only if the student poses a threat of serious harm to self or others, or when required by law.
