Student Health Services

Provided in partnership by:

Welcome to the SUNO Student Health Services Office in partnership with Ochsner Urgent Care – your partners in promoting well-being and ensuring your health while pursuing your academic journey at our university. We're committed to enhancing your college experience through preventive healthcare and valuable education, and we're here to serve all enrolled students.

Our dedicated team comprises a full-time registered nurse and a part-time physician who are passionate about providing you with the care and guidance you need. The cost of basic health services is conveniently included in your tuition, with a nominal non-refundable fee, making it accessible to all students.

What can you expect from Student Health Services?
  1. Health Counseling: We believe in proactive healthcare, and our team is here to offer health counseling tailored to your needs. Whether you have questions about healthy living or need advice on managing stress, we're here to support you.

  2. Health Information: Knowledge is power, and we provide you with reliable health information to help you make informed decisions about your well-being. Our resources cover a wide range of topics to keep you informed and empowered.

  3. Medical Care for Minor Ailments: For those everyday health concerns, we offer medical care for minor issues. Whether it's a cold, flu, or minor injury, we're here to provide you with the care and attention you require.

Services offered include:

•Basic and Emergency Care
•Free Pregnancy Testing
•Referrals
•Blood Pressure Screening
•Diabetic screening
•PCR Covid-19 testing

In the event of major medical problems, rest assured that we will connect you with local hospitals and specialists who can address your needs. Should you require X-rays, laboratory tests, or dental care, our team can make referrals to trusted local physicians and agencies.

Please note that while we provide essential healthcare services, we are not a comprehensive care facility and cannot accommodate students with severe or critical illnesses. In such cases, we prioritize your safety and well-being by swiftly calling emergency or paramedic services to transport you to an appropriate healthcare agency. It's important to be aware that students are financially responsible for their transportation to and from these outside healthcare facilities.

Insurance is a crucial aspect of your overall well-being, and we offer a Life Insurance Plan designed specifically for enrolled students. This plan covers you not only on campus but also at home, school, and during travel, ensuring your peace of mind 24 hours a day throughout the fall, spring, and summer terms. Please note that the cost of this plan is separate from your tuition upon enrollment.

As you consider your healthcare needs, you can obtain a detailed brochure describing the coverage from our Student Health Services office. Remember that students are responsible for covering any medical expenses they may incur.

Your health is a priority for us, and we're here to support you on your academic journey. If you have any questions or require assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to Student Health Services. Your well-being is our commitment, and we look forward to being a part of your SUNO experience.
