Notice: Campus Climate Pre-Assessment Questionnaire

Notice: Campus Climate Pre-Assessment Questionnaire

DATE: February 19, 2024

TO: Southern University System Students and Employees

FROM: Jeremiah J. Sams, Esq., System Director for Compliance

REF: Campus Climate Pre-Assessment Questionnaire

Act 472 of the 2021 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature created the Campus Accountability and Safety Act, which was designed to establish processes and procedures to guide public postsecondary education stakeholders in maintaining safety and protection for students and employees on their campuses. The law significantly extended the policy environment to add power-based violence, a term that includes but is not limited to sexual misconduct and Title IX conduct.

On February 26, 2024, the System Office for Compliance in conjunction with each institution’s Title IX Coordinator plans to disseminate an anonymous questionnaire to students and employees with the intent to gather information about (1) campus safety and (2) incidents of power-based violence, sexual assault, and sexual misconduct, as well as knowledge of appropriate policies and resources available on campus. Completion of this questionnaire is expected to take around 5-10 minutes. The questionnaire will remain open for three (3) weeks and will close at 11:59 p.m. on March 18, 2024

Participation in this questionnaire is voluntary in that participation is not mandatory. Additionally, this questionnaire is anonymous as our office will not collect any identifiable information and all responses are kept confidential.

If you have any questions regarding the questionnaire, please contact the System Office for Compliance at compliance@sus.edu.

If you or an acquaintance need support or to report an incident of power-based violence, sexual assault, or sexual misconduct, please contact your respective Title IX Coordinator.
