Knights Baseball is off to a hot start to its inaugural season. Wednesday, SUNO swept the weekly conference honors as Chase Lovick was named GCAC Player of the Week, and Dwayne McGill was named GCAC Pitcher of the Week. The Knights opened the 2024 campaign, defeating Southeastern Baptist in a doubleheader 5-4, 4-3.
McGill, the Knights' starting pitcher in the season opener, walked away with the win, walking just two batters and striking out four in 6.1 innings pitched.
Lovick, an outfielder for the Knights, led the Knights with four runs scored over four games, including five hits and a .333 batting average. He reached base nearly 45% of the time at the plate and had an impressive .667 slugging percentage.
The Knights' next game is February 16 against Louisiana Christian in Pineville, LA.
