The SUNO Knights head into the 2012-2013 season with high expectations. The Knights will look to repeat as GCAC Champions after their surprising run to the conference title last season. They placed second in the GCAC Coaches’ preseason poll and had two selections to the GCAC Preseason All-Conference Team; last season’s conference Freshman of the Year, guard Kevin Dukes and Senior Forward Clyde Moore who averaged nearly 17 points per game and 8 rebounds for the Knights. Coach Dale Valdery expects his deep and talented squad to build upon last year’s achievements. “The pressure certainly is on us this season and we won’t be sneaking up on anyone”, said Coach Valdery, winner of the 2011-2012 Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches Small College Coach of the Year Award. “But I think our young men have worked very hard in the off-season to not have a letdown and to prove something to themselves that the way they played at the end of the season is how they are capable of playing all season long.”
