Online B.A. In Psychology

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology online program aligns with the Strategic Plan for Online Programs for Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) to "expand our academic footprint" and provide educational resources that are easily accessible and affordable. This program will be part of SUNO Online and offer affordable tuition with minimal fees. This program will effectively prepare students to:

  1. Develop an understanding of the critical literature in psychology and its application to clinical populations and case management.
  2. Prepare participants for entry into advanced graduate studies in Psychology, Mental Health, and   Addiction Counseling
  3. Prepare and train participants for immediate entry into professional areas such as:

     Mental Health Professional

     Medical and Health Services Manager

     Suicide and Trauma Risk Interventionist

     Behavior Specialist

     Clinical Case Manager

  1. Prepare students for earning certifications from professional organizations such as Louisiana Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority(LA-ADRA)

OBJECTIVES

To maintain an online Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology that is accessible and affordable to facilitate learning and training that will assist students in becoming ethical, competent mental health clinicians, professional clinical community leaders, and social science researchers.

 

MODE OF DELIVERY

The Bachelor of Arts in Psychology program is delivered in an asynchronous on-line format. This delivery method provides the following:

  1. Increase access to higher education 
  2. Increase the digital footprint and access to high-quality distance education courses and degree programs
  3. Increase enrollment, retention, and graduation rates as students with other obligations will be able to attend courses and complete   

     assignments outside of the traditional on-campus schedule time. 

  1. Increase financial mobility of students upward as they enter the rapidly growing behavioral health workforce
