NEW ORLEANS, LA – Though sending out the smallest team in the field, Southern University at New Orleans earned enough points to finish 3rd at the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. The team was led by the outstanding performance of Warith Fennoy, who won two events, setting a meet record in the triple jump (47′-0 1/4″) and taking the long jump title as well. Sophomore Rushain Murray won the Men’s 800m with a time of 1:58.22 and Sheldon Williams brought home the championship in the Men’s 110m Hurdle just beating out Haziel Yisrael of Edward Waters by .02 of a second. Other notable finishes included Chad Thomas finishing second in the Men’s 400m Hurdle and Stevorn Richards finished third in the Men’s 200 Meters. Jeffrey Scott placed third in both the Hammer and Javelin competitions. In team competition SUNO finished second in the Men’s 4x400m Relay.
