The purpose of the Computer Information Systems Department is to provide students with a high quality information systems education. The Computer Information Systems program provides students with a foundation in the dual functional areas of business and computing technologies, thus enabling graduates to pursue both technical and managerial careers in all types of organizations, both public and private. The program also implements processes and procedures that facilitate the retention and nurturing of CIS majors throughout their matriculation at SUNO. It builds on the core goals of the College of Business and Public Administration (CBA) in preparing students for social and technical analyses, design, development, implementation, and management of computer-based information systems. In addition, the department also supports the mission of the University to create and maintain an environment conducive to learning and growth for all members of the university community and the community at large.
