Professor. Merrick received her MSW from Southern University at New Orleans School of Social Work.  She is a Louisiana Board Certified compulsive gambling counselor and is also a Certification Site Examiner for The American Association of Suicidology.  She has trained others in the areas of domestic violence, anger management, suicidology, crisis intervention, and compulsive gambling. 

Research interests: Adolescent males’ perception of suicide and female perpetrators of domestic violence
